QikServe: The People. Meet Felicity, our Marketing Executive

QikServe sits down with new Marketing Executive, Felicity, to find out what her first few months have been like working at our Edinburgh-based office.

[QikServe] Hey Felicity! How long have you worked at QikServe?

[Felicity] I’ve worked at QikServe for about four months now, I started in November 2017. It’s gone super fast! I can’t believe I’ve been here four months already.

[QS] What are your main responsibilities?

[Felicity] My role is very varied. Within the Marketing team there’s three of us; there’s the CMO, the Marketing Manager and myself, the Marketing Executive. From web, to events, to social, to marketing collateral to branding – it’s really varied. We cover everything that a larger Marketing department would do.

[QS] What’s a typical day like for you?

[Felicity] There no typical day! I guess my remit would have me coming in and looking at content creation for web and social, as well as reporting. But because of the nature of QikServe that can sometimes not happen for a couple of days as something will come in that’s a business priority that we have to work on, or I need to support the CMO. No day is the same, and that’s what I really love about my job.

[QS] Has it been what you expected?

[Felicity] It has and it hasn’t. The way it has is that prior to working at QikServe I was working in the public sector in a focused role within a very large company. So I knew it would be different in that I’d be coming in and have to wear a lot of hats – which I was excited for because I’d be able to learn faster. It hasn’t been what I expected in that the culture at QikServe is brilliant. There is a real sense of community here. We’re all working together, as a unit, towards a shared goal. There’s a great vibe and it makes all the difference.

[QS] What are the benefits of working for a small company?

[Felicity] It’s really flexible and there’s a flat structure which is good; you can talk to anyone, you can get advice from anyone. Communication is less of an issue than it would be in a larger company.

[QS] What work have you been involved with since starting and what did you particularly like and why?

[Felicity] I’ve only been here four months but within that timeframe I’ve been able to get my teeth stuck into quite a few projects. We’ve rolled out a new go-to-market strategy and are now going through a rebranding process, which is really exciting. It’s a fantastic time to have joined the company from a marketing perspective. Other projects I’ve been involved with have included higher level publications, content creation, reporting and planning.

What I’ve enjoyed the most has been the rebranding process. I’ve been able to input from the first level messaging to the end product which we’re reviewing now. It’s been a really exciting process and it’s been beneficial for me to get to know QikServe in this way as I’ve been able to get to grips with the bones of who we are and what we do right from the start.

[QS] What is the culture like at QikServe?

[Felicity] The culture is really open and honest. Everyone is diligent and committed. They’re creative, and ‘banterous’ – if that’s even a word? And everyone is working together towards a common goal. I’ve never experienced a culture like QikServe’s before.

[QS] What are you looking forward to working on next?

[Felicity] As we go through the rebranding process we’ll be getting a new website. I’m really interested in learning more about SEO, PPC, and improving my HTML skills and the new website will provide the perfect opportunity for that.
